Celebrity Edge promises 29 world class venues and quite possibly the most luxurious culinary experience you’ll ever encounter, on the water and off.
Anyone who says cruise ships are ‘floating RSL clubs’ hasn’t read a word about Celebrity Cruises’ brand new ship, Edge.
Scheduled to begin her inaugural season sailing Caribbean itineraries in 2019, Celebrity Edge is quite possibly one of the most highly anticipated ships to hit the high seas, thanks in large part to the innovative culinary offering cleverly devised by vice president of hotel operations for Celebrity Cruises, Brian Abel, and associate VP, food and beverage, Cornelius Gallagher.
Forget what you think you know about eating on a cruise ship, because there’s no Johnny Rockets or 24-hour pizza place in sight. Celebrity Edge has 29 world-class venues, including four main restaurants, five complimentary dining venues – which means dining there is included in the price of your ticket – and two exclusive Suite and AquaClass restaurants. You can also peruse the 11 bars and lounges on board, but if it’s food you’re about, then it’s the six speciality restaurants you need to take note of – and the photos will seriously impress.
From exceptional cuts cooked to your taste at Fine Cut Steakhouse, to delicacies from the sea and beyond at Raw on 5, it’s pretty incredible how much there is to experience on one ship – and we haven’t even spoken about the red carpet yet.
When the red carpet rolls out, Raw on 5 becomes Dinner on the Edge; an exhilarating experience on the very top level of the ship. Then there’s Eden restaurant, a Willy Wonka-esque experience with an open-air kitchen, and meals that deliver sensory and experiential offerings served by performers cleverly dubbed, ‘Edenists’.
Rooftop Garden Grill will serve you up Texan-style backyard barbecue that’ll induce some serious finger-licking, and finally, Le Grand Bistro, with its handmade macaroons, artisanal cheeses and for the first time ever at sea – an animated 3D chef, who at night appears right on your plate, thanks to the help of TableMation Studios. The character ‘prepares’ each course during a dining experience like no other, which is both incredibly tasty and about as impressive as they come.
In addition to the speciality eats is a line-up of seriously impressive complimentary restaurants that each take your palette to a different side of the globe; Tuscan is based on much-loved Italian dishes, Normandie is all about French cuisine, Cyprus is a nod to Mediterranean fare, and Cosmopolitan is the perfect fit for your inevitable American cravings.
If you consider yourself a foodie, you may well be, but until you climb aboard Celebrity Edge, I have a feeling you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
