The Waldorf Astoria grows its own to keep bees company

The Waldorf Astoria New York has put a small green hat on, after opening a rooftop garden to complement six bee hives placed there last Northern spring.

The produce from the micro garden, which includes raised planting beds, trees and pot plants, will be used in the hotel’s kitchen.

The Horticultural Society of New York helped construct the project, with plants chosen suitable for the nearby bees, which produce ‘Top of the Waldorf Rooftop Honey’ for consumption and to be used in the hotel’s spa treatments.

You can visit the garden as part of the hotel’s Historic Tour, offered every Thursday and Saturday.
