81. The Peninsula Shanghai, China

Ranked #81 in our countdown of the 100 Best Hotels and Resorts in the World.

“The best in the city.” Melissa Biggs Bradley

Fabulously Art Deco, The Peninsula is in the heart of Shanghai, on the world-famous Bund.

You can’t keep your eyes off the views – the Huangpu River and the city’s Blade Runner skyline. A dazzling sweep of black marble and gold define the foyer, while flawless guestrooms have discreet colours, lustrous textures and every hi-tech toy – mood lighting, plasma TVs, iPod docks, scanners and printers, jet-streamed baths, even nail dryers.

Salon de Ning is utterly decadent for cocktails but it’s hard to resist the rooftop bar. Service is Pen professionalism at its best.

Size 235 rooms and suites

Hotels.com genuine guest score 4.8/5

Hotels.com genuine guest review “The location is excellent with the Bund area at your door.”

Did you know The hotel offers guests the chance to dress up like a Chinese opera star with their ‘Music, Colour and Facepaint’ experience.
