Review: Le Sirenuse, Positano, Italy

Le Sirenuse, Positano, Italy ranked #17 in our countdown of the 100 Best Hotels and Resorts in the World.

Positano is take-your-breath-away beautiful with its sherbet-coloured façades edging up the cliff, tumbling bougainvillea and cobalt blue waters.

And there is no better place to drink in the sights than from Le Sirenuse. Built around an 18th-century palazzo, the hotel feels airy yet intimate, with an ambience that invites you to feel part of la famiglia.

The white-on-white rooms have old-world, aristocratic good looks with hand painted Vietri-glazed tiles, splashes of colour and a smattering of the Sersale family’s antiques.

There’s a certain retro Hollywood-vibe in La Sponda restaurant (utterly delicious, seafood-focused cucina), a terrace for dining al fresco, and a sensational champagne and oyster bar.

The hotel’s own vintage wooden boat is available to guests for complimentary trips along the coast.

Size 58 rooms

Hotels.com genuine guest score 4.7/5

Hotels.com genuine guest review The hotel is immaculate and the staff impeccably trained.

Did you know John Steinbeck stayed at the hotel in 1953 and wrote about it in Harper’s Bazaar describing ‘a first class hotel, spotless and cool’.
