6 ways to sample Bordeaux’s wine culture

1 . The Bordeaux Wine Council

The Bordeaux Wine Council is located in an exquisite neoclassical triangular limestone building not far from the Grand Theatre. This is the place to enjoy introductory Bordeaux wine workshops and taste dozens of wines by the glass at the glamorous Bar à Vin.

2. The Bordeaux Tourist Office

The Bordeaux Tourist Office offers the From the City to the Vineyards experience, a bus tour of Bordeaux UNESCO sites and a personal tour of a château around the city limits, complete with tastings.

3. The Urban Wine Trail

The Urban Wine Trail is a downloadable smartphone guide to 14 terrific wine bars. At Max Bordeaux you can taste Premiers Grands Crus Classés wines by the glass while you become your own wine steward at Aux Quatres Coins du Vin, sampling 60 wines by the glass from an oenomat.

4. Château Pape Clément

Located within the city limits, Château Pape Clément offers wine-blending workshops where you’ll learn the art of tasting and create your ideal wine complete with a personal label that you can take home.

6. L’Intendent

To ogle Bordeaux’s most famous wines visit L’Intendent with its spiral staircase ascending from Haut-Médocs to Margaux, Pauillac and the pinnacle of the five First Growths.
