What is the best time to visit Bangkok?

While March to May can be hot and humid and June to October brings rain during monsoon season, November to February is considered the best time to visit, when days are warm and dry.

How many days do you need in Bangkok?

While you can cram a lot of top sights and things to do in 3 days, a week will give a much better overview of the city at a more comfortable pace.

What is the best way to get around Bangkok?

River ferry and MRT (metro). Tuk tuk is also a fun and iconic way to travel, however it can be pricey at times. Download ride apps like Grab, Bolt, and MuvMi to your phone in advance.

What currency do they use in Thailand?

Thai Baht is the legal currency used in Thailand.

Can I use my phone/cards easily in Bangkok?

Your Australian phone will work fine in Bangkok providing you unlock it before you go with your carrier. Alternatively purchase an e-SIM before you travel or pick up a physical Thai SIM at one of the airport kiosks when you land at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

For currency, ATMs are common around most areas of Bangkok and accept major credit and debit cards like Visa and Mastercard. Be aware most Thai banks charge an expensive flat fee for each withdrawal (around $9.50 AUD). Make sure to decline conversion rates and stick to Thai Bhat to avoid costly mark-ups. While cards are widely accepted, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash, especially at marketplaces, smaller shops, and for driver or tour guide tips.
