Cruising the South Pacific with Royal Caribbean

There’s an adventure to be had at every corner in the South Pacific – where the water is warm, the sand is powdery white and the mountains soar.
With so many experiences to be had, cruising the South Pacific, where it’s daydreamy and surprisingly diverse, is perhaps the best way to experience it all: from hiking to the highest point on the Isle of Pines in New Caledonia; to diving into the crystal-clear waters of Vanuatu where coral castles lie beneath the surface; or discovering untouched wilderness in Tahiti.

Why the South Pacific?
Every island in the South Pacific has its own allure, with a range of experiences, cultures and landscapes to immerse yourself in. Vanuatu’s archipelago, full of coconut tree-lined shores, thundering waterfalls, underwater shipwrecks and azure lagoons, is made for adventurers. In Fiji, you can unwind on the secluded Honeymoon Beach or discover a world of technicolour coral off Castaway Island. New Caledonia promises a colourful and charming fusion of cultures where European elegance and gourmet French fare marries well with Melanesian hospitality and breathtaking tropical landscapes.

From the smiling capital of Port Vila in Vanuatu to the tranquil island of Mare where time stands still in New Caledonia, each island destination is packed with not-to-be-missed experiences that will leave lasting memories.
Adventure cruising
Adventure cruising specialists Royal Caribbean is an expert in the range of experiences on offer in the South Pacific, which is why it brings three incredible ships to the region – each with an array of fun-filled activities onboard. Get ready to catch a wave on a surf simulator, skydive on the ship’s top deck and race down three storeys of twisting thrills on The Perfect Storm. The possibilities are truly endless on a cruise through this special part of the world, while exclusive shore excursions and breathtaking destinations await onshore.

There’s plenty of family-friendly activities awaiting onshore at each destination, including stand-up paddleboarding and snorkelling.
Voyager of the Seas
Adventures in the South Pacific will take on a whole new meaning when the bolder-than-ever Voyager of the Seas returns to the region following a USD$97 million (AUD$142.7) amplification (renovation). Voyager will offer unforgettable holiday experiences for the whole family: from pulse raising adventures down high speed waterslides on The Perfect Storm, to going head-to-head in Battle for Planet Z laser tag (both firsts for the Australian market) and unwinding in the new Vitality Spa. Royal’s first amplified ship for the South Pacific will call on local favourites including French flavoured Noumea in New Caledonia, lively Lautoka in Fiji and Pacific hidden gems, Isle of Pine and Mystery Island.

The Perfect Storm waterside duo is one of the biggest rides at sea.
Radiance of the Seas
Queenslanders can enjoy a Royal Caribbean cruise without having to leave the state as Radiance of the Seas returns to Brisbane next year. The Australian favourite will return to local waters to home port in the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at Luggage Point from 16 November 2020. She will be the largest ship to call Brisbane home, with the new terminal providing easy access to the Sunshine State’s picturesque beaches and the tropical South Pacific. During her inaugural Queensland season, Radiance of the Seas will offer more than 20 memory-making cruises from November 2020 to April 2021.
Ovation of the Seas
Ovation of the Seas returns for her fifth local season in 2020. There is so much to do onboard you’ll find it hard to leave the cruise ship, the biggest and boldest to sail this region. Try surfing on the 12-metre-long FlowRider on the top deck, experience the thrill of a freefall skydive on RipCord by iFLY and watch robots serve up your favourite cocktail at the revolutionary Bionic Bar.

Perfect Day at Lelepa
Royal Caribbean isn’t only bringing the most exciting ships to the region; earlier this year the cruise line announced a South Pacific addition to its private island collection, Perfect Day. Vanuatu, one of the natural gems of the South Pacific, will be the home of Royal Caribbean’s newest private island destination – Perfect Day at Lelepa. Lelepa will be the first carbon-neutral private cruise destination in the world, built with sustainability features designed to safeguard the island’s ecosystems. Perfect Day at Lelepa will be designed to have everything you need to create the ‘perfect day’, and it looks set to deliver.
