How to ‘fly’ first class in Singapore (without leaving the ground) with YOTEL

The first of its kind in Asia, YOTEL is a global chain of chic hotels inspired by first class airline travel, steeped with a sense of compact luxury. This is how to ‘fly’ first class in Singapore with YOTEL.

Walk into the newly minted lobby of YOTEL Singapore and you’ll be amazed by its intersection between streamlined minimalism and total luxe.

State-of-the-art technology and guest-centric features are woven into every aspect, with the experience starting in in the form of a fuss-free check-in done quickly via a clever kiosk. Forget hotel rooms – here, you have a ‘cabin’ whose smart design echoes the small but perfectly formed space of the best of air travel, yet communal break-out spaces throughout the hotel for co-working, socialising and exercising bring a community focus you’d never find in the air.

Set snugly on ‘TEN’, YOTEL’s lap pool is definitely urban, yet surrounded by lush greenery in a serene space. Fitness buffs can work those muscles at the gym fitted with Life Fitness equipment.

When it’s time to replenish the calories, a decadent dinner at Grains and Hops Restaurant and Bar is the obvious choice, with a menu that travels through Asia’s best one-dish rice bowls, personally curated by YOTEL’s head chef, Calvin Ow. The warm, hearty signature roasted Angus beef bowl is coupled with a generous portion of YOTEL’s signature purple sticky rice, while other bowls include such delicacies as roasted Kurobuta pork or miso salmon. You can also build your own shared platters from six types of skewers, four grains (including the delectable garlic quinoa) and fabulous housemade dips and sauces.

As the restaurant’s name suggests, the ideal pairing for your dinner comes in the form of the hotel’s specially created craft beer, a pale ale that’s freshly brewed and infused with a tinge of jasmine green tea flavour.

Retreating to your room provides the ultimate wind-down. All premium cabins are designed with relaxing mood lighting and neatly furnished with YOTEL’s signature adjustable SmartBed replete with an ultra-comfy Serta mattress, plus a smart TV and ‘technowall’ that’s Bluetooth and Miracast enabled, if you feel like playing your own music or films. Get rejuvenated in the rain shower and prep your skin to be ‘savvy for city living’ as promised by boutique brand Urban Skincare products, also included in every room. Free super-strength Wi-Fi and free calls throughout Singapore make it easy to stay in touch.

If you need anything at all, from an extra towel to a bottle of water, they’ll be delivered to your room by nothing less than one of YOTEL’s two new 24/7 robots. They call your cabin on arrival at the door and are clever enough to navigate around the hotel autonomously. Each robot even has its own unique voice and personality!

Get a cabin on the 30th floor and you’re not only privy to a resplendent view of Singapore’s iconic Orchard Road shopping belt, but it gives you an idea of just how close you are to everything; retail therapy is a stone’s throw away, since the hotel is located right on Orchard Road. The Orchard MRT is station only a five-minute stroll from the hotel so you can access Singapore’s big sights, such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanic gardens, Chinatown, the Singapore Flyer and the fascinating Art Science Museum.
